I’m talking about another song that will be included in my project. This is O Come, O Come Emmanuel, a very bright Christmas song, a hymn.
The melody and words for it were created separately. The words were originally written in Latin and were first documented in Germany in 1710, however in 1861 they were translated into English by John Mason Neal. There are several translations of this hymn into many languages of the world. As for the melody, it was very famous in the English-speaking world, but came from France of the 15th century. There is an assumption that the words of this hymn were nevertheless composed in the 8th century, and they in turn were rephrased by the English poet Cynewulf. But anyway, today the hymn is performed with the words of 1861.
